                        Download The Court of Appeal ordered Mr Kanu’s release from the State Security Service (SSS) custody, where the IPOB leader is being held since he was brought back to Nigeria by force. The Court of Appeal in Abuja, on Thursday, struck out the terrorism charges filed against Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) by the Nigerian government. The court struck out all the remaining seven charges against Mr Kanu. It followed an earlier ruling of the trial judge, Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja, in April dismissing eight of the 15 amended counts filed against him by the federal government. Chukwuma Nwandugo, the Action Alliance's (AA) candidate for governor of Ebonyi State in 2023, has praised the Court of Appeal's decision on Thursday that freed Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, from all charges. Nwandugo, a former commissioner for works and transportation in the state of Ebonyi, referred to the court decision that freed Nnamdi Kanu as historic and said it might give the Igbo people the impression that the Nigerian government never forgets about them.
