                        Download The Court of Appeal ordered Mr Kanu’s release from the State Security Service (SSS) custody, where the IPOB leader is being held since he was brought back to Nigeria by force. The Court of Appeal in Abuja, on Thursday, struck out the terrorism charges filed against Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) by the Nigerian government. The court struck out all the remaining seven charges against Mr Kanu. It followed an earlier ruling of the trial judge, Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja, in April dismissing eight of the 15 amended counts filed against him by the federal government. In a judgement on Thursday, the Court of Appeal panel led by Jummai Sankey struck out all remaining charges against Mr Kanu, ruling that the lower court “lacks the jurisdiction to entertain the suit.” The court held that Mr Kanu’s extradition from Kenya in June 2021 to Nigeria without following the extradition rules was a flagrant violation of N

Chukwuma Nwandugo, the Action Alliance's (AA) candidate for governor of Ebonyi State in 2023, has praised the Court of Appeal's decision on Thursday that freed Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, from all charges. Nwandugo, a former commissioner for works and transportation in the state of Ebonyi, referred to the court decision that freed Nnamdi Kanu as historic and said it might give the Igbo people the impression that the Nigerian government never forgets about them.   ABUJA– According to a civil society organization working under the auspices of the Africa Youth Growth Foundation (AYGF), Nigeria would experience a workforce shortage as a result of the Academic Staff Union of Universities' (ASUU) ongoing strike. This occurred at the same time as the organization claimed the public university lecturer strike was having an impact, notably on engineering, research, and development.
